How to Hunt Turkeys: DIY Turkey Call
This video shows how to make an effective call for use as the turkey gets close. This type of call is sometimes called a "finisher" or "closer." It is super simple to make and very easy to play. The call makes good purrs, soft yelps, and cuts. It also makes great tree yelps.

    Dude, one of the five main feeding phases for deer is right before sundown. They do it year round. It has absolutely NOTHING to due with the moon phase. Deer will react to immediate pressures, then needs, seasonal behavior, weather conditions (especially cold fronts), and then other miscellaneous environmental drivers. If there IS some pattern to the moon phase at all it ranks beneath ALL of the above. If seeing a localized increase in deer movement before sundown has anything to do with Solunar Mythology someone should come inform every deer in my country that they're completely messed up and don't know what they're doing. Using a Solunar Table to predict hunting success is as relevant and useful as a Magic 8 Ball.

      @@juliusjames5577 The best advice I can give is to be determined and make adjustments till you get the sound right. Don't keep doing the same thing. it took me over 10 years to learn how to purr and I am still working on it - 20 plus more years. You can do it. Just use friction calls until you do. Very good video. Yeah the lone wolf is a great hang on. Very sturdy and super quiet and what not. My one question is with a fixed ladder stand, getting to the spot before shooting hours is pretty straightforward. With the lone wolf, are you getting to the woods in the dark and looking for a tree to climb before sunrise? I'm asking as we currently have the dang rut in full swing in Pa yet I haven't see squat near my ladderstand. So I'm thinking about changing things up and taking the lone wolf for a walk and climb.

    • @How2hunt
      @How2hunt 5 років тому

      Hi Donovan, I am a little different than most hunters because I do not go into the woods in the dark. I wait till it just light enough to see and hunt my way to the stand. I picked the spot because I expected deer to be there and do not want to bump them as I enter without having an opportunity to take one. Been doing that way for decades and it has worked for me. Thanks for the question.
